The 3Ms that will revolutionize your life
I have tried and tested different strategies to take my life and success to the next level. And I have found that these three Ms that can totally revolutionize your life if you commit to them on a daily basis:
Mindfulness: For us human beings, developing a practice of mindfulness is vital to lead a happy and fulfilling life. We have to be mindful of our thoughts, our actions, and the words that we speak. We are in the prime of our mental fitness when we are calm and mindful. Meditation is a life-changing habit to cultivate and to be practiced daily as it brings more awareness in our life. A practice of meditation will help you develop self-control, and be instrumental in controlling your emotions and thoughts. It will help you get in touch with your inner being and the infinite intelligence that is present in all of us.
Minimalism: In my experience, by far the most effective and instantaneous results can be achieved by adopting minimalism in your life. Clutter whether it be physical, mental, or digital weights on us. Tiny and seemingly insignificant distractions keep compounding and drain us of our creative energy. Minimalism is not something you adopt for a quick fix to all your life’s problems. It is a lifestyle. Excess can be detrimental to our health and well-being.
Minimalism is not meant only for the rich folks, who have accumulated a ton of belongings to fill the voids in their lives. It is for everyone. Minimalism is about eliminating the excess and living a life that is enriched with intention, focus, and clarity. If we spend our precious time on this earth in being entangled with physical possessions, menial responsibilities, and monotonous daily tasks, we lose the bigger picture of our existence. We distance ourselves from our talents and our unique mission in this life always remains unclear.
Minimalism in all aspects of our lives, whether it be finances, diet, relationships, friendships or the stuff that we own, is important as it leads us to a more meaningful and purposeful life. When you do things that align with you and are good inherently, you start loving your life. The happiness within you is ignited. According to the Stoics, doing good things is the ultimate form of self-reliance.
Momentum: Success is all about momentum. As Darren Hardy mentions in his book The Compound Effect, momentum (or as he likes to call it the “Big Mo”) is one of the most powerful strategies for success. He advises us to build effective routines and rhythms into our daily disciplines and stay consistent over a long enough period of time. If we want to get the most out of our lives, it’s important that we incorporate positive behaviors and habits on a daily basis, whether it be reading, meditating, or eating an apple a day. Personal development is to be done on a daily basis in this ever changing world. As you gather momentum, things become easy and effortless. It takes a great effort to get a merry-go-round started. But once it gets going, maintaining its speed is easy.
To get started initially in building a discipline we have to put in work daily. Usually, I suggest doing particular behavior or activity for at least 90 days. Once we have internalized the habit, all we have to do is maintain the habit by being consistent and doing it regularly, if not daily. For instance, if you would like to incorporate going to the gym in your routine, Initially I would suggest doing it daily for a short time, like 10-20 minutes. After 90 days, once you have acclimated to the gym environment, you can do three 45 minute workout sessions during the week, instead of doing it daily.
Rome was not built in a day, and neither are good habits! Be a marathoner, not a sprinter, and start small initially. Pick up the pace as you go. The biggest nemesis to starting and building a good habit is being overwhelmed. With momentum, doing good things for yourself, your body, your finances and your relationships will become the path of least resistance. Initially building momentum is simple but not easy. But once you have momentum on your side, amazing things will come to your life effortlessly by the law of attraction. All we have to do is gently nudge ourselves with the natural flow of the Source energy which is abundant and prosperous.
I can say that these three Ms: mindfulness, minimalism, and momentum are the pillars of a Karma Yogi lifestyle.
Mindfulness + Minimalism + Momentum = Miracles
I would suggest you to embrace them and incorporate them in your life. They will be instrumental in your endeavor do design a life that you truly desire and live life on your own terms. On top of that, practicing these three Ms will help you develop the important virtue of self-reliance.
Now is the time to get started with these disciplines, if you haven’t already. Your true Self awaits you!
