Reviewing your actions and results
The Karma Yogi philosophy is all about taking actions and teaches you outcome independence. That’s a good way to focus on your actions and develop consistency. But we also have to be mindful of what things we are doing wrong. Consistency along with correct action is the key.
As we develop any kind of skill, there’s a higher chance we’ll not be good at it the first time, unless you have beginner’s luck like me, which is more of an ego boost and is short lived. As we keep on taking action, we will realize gradually what things work and what do not work.
Sooner or later, we start seeing patterns and understand some fundamental principles. Now if you understand those principles, you are not influenced by minor details because you’re more interested in sticking to following the principles.
You have to go through the struggle in order to realize the importance and value of these principles. If you have a fear of success, even though you’ll have a good knowledge of the principles, you will keep f*cking up. You will not work towards success and self-sabotage your results. This comes to reprogramming your subconscious mind so that you effectively use these principles and reach success.
A good way to continue with learning lessons is to review your actions and results periodically. I have been guilty of taking massive action, yet never reviewing what I was doing wrong. You have to mix action taking with intelligence. Consistency and effort demand progress and your progress will be of the best quality if you review your actions.
Make a note of things that work in your favor and things that never work out. Think of it like picking fruits, if it’s a principle that is gold and work likes a charm every time, keep it in your basket. And if it’s some action or method that never works out, pick the lesson out of it and put in your basket, and discard the bad fruit. Once you keep doing this, all you will have are the principles that always work and lessons that you have learned, and once you act upon them, it guarantees success!
Taking action is important, but you should always be striving for your success and happiness because that’s your ultimate goal, isn’t it? The key is reviewing periodically and being mindful and intelligent about your actions!
